To conduct exchanges and work with fiat currencies: EUR, USD, UAH and KZT, exchange services located on their own websites need to implement KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures and bank card verification.
Before connecting or reactivating a fiat gateway, it is necessary to demonstrate the implementation of KYC procedures and card verification on the exchange service's website. When depositing and withdrawing EUR, USD and KZT currencies via API, both user KYC and card verification are mandatory. Unfortunately, fiat gateways are temporarily unavailable for UAH currency.
KYC implementation
For exchange services
To implement the KYC procedure, the following materials should be requested from users:
- A picture of one of the identity documents:
- Passport (first page);
- ID card (front side);
- Other official identification documents (front side).
- Selfie of the user with an identity document.
Please note: the picture must clearly show the user's face and the document itself.
For Telegram bots
Options for implementing KYC in Telegram bots:
- Sumsub integration — the bot must be integrated with Sumsub so that the user can complete the verification by themselves.
- Manual verification — the user must provide selfies with the document as well as a piece of paper with the date and signature on it. This process should take place through the browser on the user's device so that the exchange service can save the necessary data.
Data storing
The exchange service or bot must ensure that all user data is collected and securely stored. It is important to provide for the possibility of transferring this data upon request from WhiteBIT. In addition, the bot should have a web form through which the user confirms their data — this is necessary to capture the IP address and session information of the device.
User application data must be stored in your database for 5 years.
Card verification implementation
In order to enable the WhiteBIT fiat gateway and conduct exchanges with fiat currencies, the exchange service is obliged to implement the procedure of verification of users' bank cards. This applies to both physical and virtual cards.
Requirements for exchange service:
- Request pictures from the user to confirm card ownership:
- For a physical card — a picture of the card on which the first 6 and last 4 digits of the number are clearly visible).
- For the virtual card, two pictures:
- screenshot from internet banking, showing the last 4 digits of the card and its expiration date;
- a picture of the user with a piece of paper with his/her full name, date, signature, and a phone with the bank's application open and the card visible next to it.
- In case the user uses a non-named card, it is necessary to additionally request a bank statement confirming his/her right to own the card;
- All collected pictures and documents must be stored in the exchange service system.
Please note: it is important to allow for this data to be provided upon request from WhiteBIT.
User actions:
- When creating an exchange request, after clicking the "Start Exchange" button, a window should open with instructions on card verification;
- User must provide the specified images depending on the type of card, and if using a non-named card, upload a bank statement confirming their ownership of the card.
- Wait for the card to be verified and confirmed by the exchange service before proceeding with the exchange transaction.
It should be mentioned that the verification process can be realized both through a special section "Verification" on the website of the exchange service, and through a pop-up window that appears during the creation of the application, depending on the convenience of the implementation of such functionality on the website.
Also consider: if you are using BoxExchanger or PremiumExchanger script, please contact the appropriate representative or refer to the instructions for activating the verification methods already implemented on the script side and compliant with WhiteBIT requirements.
