Account settings on the website: A complete guide

We prioritize continuous improvement by regularly enhancing our platform’s functionality and introducing new tools, while reinforcing security measures. To ensure you stay well-informed, we have created a comprehensive guide that covers the “Settings” section. This guide will help you explore the customization options available for your account and set it up the way you need.

The account settings section can be found in the site header by hovering your cursor over the profile icon in the top-right corner or via the link: https://whitebit.com/settings.

After opening the section, you will see six blocks, each designed for managing specific aspects of your account settings:

  • Profile
  • Security
  • Access
  • Trading
  • Finance
  • API

This section also includes convenient features for easy navigation and information retrieval:

  • Collapsible sidebar – allows you to hide and expand the side menu to free up more space for the main content.
  • Sidebar search – helps you quickly find the information you need by searching directly within the side menu.
  • Overview in a card-based display format – information is presented as individual cards, making the content clearer, more structured, and easier to browse.

Please note: In the Overview tab, you can check the email address associated with your account (under the “Email” card). For security reasons, the full email address is only displayed once you click the eye icon next to it.

The “Profile” block

In this block, you can view and change your nickname, select your preferred language, manage push notification settings, and create a sub-account. Let’s take a closer look.

Nickname

To better protect your personal data, we have introduced nicknames: each user of the exchange has a unique nickname. A nickname consists of two parts: a random name (adjective + cryptocurrency name) and a four-digit tag (e.g., #1111). If two users get the same first part, the tag keeps each nickname unique. To change your nickname, enter a new name in the “Nickname” field and click “Confirm”.

Please note: The tag changes only when you change your nickname. You cannot choose a tag: tags are assigned randomly. You can change your nickname yourself only once.

Communication Language

In this section, you can choose the language of system and marketing emails and push notifications for your WhiteBIT account. To do this, select one of the available languages from the list and click “Confirm”.

Please note: If a newsletter is not available in your selected language, you will receive it in English by default.

To change the language of the website interface (menu, buttons, etc.), use the language-switching icon located in the header (the top part) of the site. Hovering over the icon will display a list of all available languages.

Notifications

Here you can manage your push notification preferences to stay informed about important account activity. You can customize the following notifications: important, general, mining pool, and transfer. To enable or disable notifications, simply toggle the switch. After making your changes, click “Confirm”.

Sub-Account

Sub-Accounts are auxiliary accounts that you can add to your main account. This feature opens up new ways to manage your investments.

You can add up to 10 sub-accounts to your profile to organize and run multiple trading strategies efficiently. This allows you to preserve and diversify your Main Account funds while testing different trading strategies.

The “Security” block

In this block, you can manage your account security settings, such as changing your password, enabling two-factor authentication, managing addresses, and configuring anti-phishing measures.

Change password

To change your current password for your WhiteBIT account, enter your current (old) password, provide a new password that follows the specified format, and re-enter it. Click “Save” to confirm the changes. You can also see when your password was last edited.

Please note: If you have changed your password and 2FA has been disabled on your account, you will not be able to withdraw funds for 72 hours.

Two-factor authentication

Here you can enable two-factor authentication to secure your account and your funds.

Passkey is a unique identifier that is used to confirm the legitimacy of your actions within the system (exchange).

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a method of verifying your identity when you access your account. It adds an extra layer of protection. In this section, you can scan the QR code and activate 2FA.

Allowlist

The allowlist lets you specify the addresses you can withdraw funds to. First, enable the feature and then add the address. The allowlist feature protects your funds by allowing withdrawals only to addresses on this list. That is, if you add addresses to the allowlist, you will be able to withdraw funds only to those addresses. To enable or disable the allowlist feature, enter your two-factor authentication code.

Anti-phishing

By setting an anti-phishing code, you can protect yourself from phishing attempts through fake WhiteBIT websites or e-mails. To set a code, enable this feature, enter the code, and click “Save”. To confirm the operation, enter the 2FA code. You will also have the opportunity to install a new code and see the history of the codes (date of installation and the codes themselves).

The “Access” block

In this block, you can manage the following settings: logout time, device management, login history, Web3, login via QR code, access via lifecell USSD menu, app authorization, and account connections. Let’s take a closer look.

Logout time

In this section, you can set how long your account stays logged in without activity before automatic logout. If you are logged in and forget to log out, the system will log out the device you used to log in. Available options are 30 minutes, 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day, 7 days, and 14 days, 30 days.

Device management

You can log in to your account from various devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and computers. In the “Device management” section, you can end a specific session by clicking the trash can icon in the top-right corner of the relevant block or all active sessions on all devices at once by clicking “Remove all”.

Login History

This section shows the login history for your account across all devices.

Web3

You can also log in to WhiteBIT using a Web3 wallet. To use this feature, install your wallet’s browser extension and enable two-factor authentication on the exchange. In the “Web3” section, find your wallet in the list. If your wallet is not listed, click “I’m feeling lucky”, and the system will detect the wallet extension installed in your browser.

Login via QR code

A convenient login method for users of our mobile application: you can access your profile in the web version of the exchange using a QR code. In this section, you can enable or disable this feature.

Access via lifecell USSD menu

The USSD menu feature lets you perform certain operations on the WhiteBIT exchange without an internet connection. Users in Ukraine on the lifecell network can link their exchange account to their lifecell number to check their balance, transfer and exchange funds, and get a deposit address. If this feature is not connected yet, click “Access via lifecell USSD menu”, then “Continue”. Enter the 2FA code and follow the instructions.

App Authorization

In this section, you can view active integration sessions and disable them if necessary. For example, if your WhiteBIT account is linked to the FaceIT platform, this information will be displayed in the “App Authorization” section. To end an active session, click the trash can icon.

Account Connections

Use your Google or Apple account to sign in to your WhiteBIT account. This is another secure and convenient way to log in to WhiteBIT. To enable this feature, click “Connect” next to the corresponding sign-in method and follow the further instructions.

The “Trade” block

In this block, you can manage the leverage size and the mode for your futures positions.

Leverage

Leverage is the ratio of borrowed funds to your own funds that you use for margin trading. You can manage it in the Leverage section. Select the desired leverage size using the slider, and click “Save”.

Please note: Changing your leverage affects all your positions in margin and futures trading.

Futures Position Mode

In this section, you can select the mode for your futures positions. Two modes are available: One-way mode and Hedge mode. This setting applies to all markets and can't be changed if you have open futures orders or positions. Once you have selected the desired mode, click “Save.”

The “Finance” block

In this block, you can manage your saved cards and payment details.

Saved cards

In this section, you can manage your bank cards. You can add new cards (“Add new card” button) for convenient deposits and remove cards you no longer use (“Remove” button).

You can save up to 10 bank cards in total.

Billing Details

This feature allows you to withdraw your funds quickly and easily, without having to add a billing address manually. To add a billing address, fill in all the required fields and click “Add”.

The “API” block

An application programming interface (API) key is a unique code used to identify an application or user. API keys are used to track and control who is using the API and how. This block consists of two sections.

API keys

Here, you can generate an API key and configure it by selecting the permissions you need in the endpoint access restrictions section. To generate a key, click “Generate API key”, enter the 2FA code, come up with a name for the key, enable the required permissions, and click “Confirm”.

Please note: WhiteBIT now offers a simplified process for generating API keys via OAuth. It lets users authorize partner apps through a secure flow that creates the key automatically. This makes connecting faster and easier for both users and partners.

How does it work?

  • Start the connection on the partner platform, which redirects you to WhiteBIT OAuth.
  • Log in and review OAuth scopes for managing API keys.
  • Select specific permissions using the standard API key model.

You can create up to 50 API keys per account and add up to 20 IP access restrictions per key.

Please note: An API key is deactivated automatically after 14 days of inactivity. You can view the keys’ expiration dates by clicking “API keys”.

Webhook

This feature lets you receive notifications about code activation or deposit confirmation. To create a webhook, click “Continue.” In the window that appears, enter the webhook address and click “Generate key.” Enter your 2FA code and click “Confirm.” Done!

As you can see, there is so much you can do within a single section! In Settings, you can check the functionality yourself and customize your account according to your preferences.

Please note: You can change the theme at the top of the website or in the “Customization” section of the mobile app. You can choose between dark and light themes.

You can also select a dark theme for the trading terminal by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner.

Delete account

In the Overview tab, there is a bright red “Delete Account” button that you can use to delete your account yourself.

Please note: After deletion, you will lose access to your account and will not be able to view your transactions.

What happens when you delete your account?

  • Trading and login will be disabled for your account.
  • All API keys for your account will be deleted.
  • All devices linked to your account will be removed.
  • All pending withdrawals will be canceled.
  • All open orders will be canceled.

Important: WhiteBIT prohibits creating multiple accounts (multi-accounting). If you delete your account and then register a new one, our systems may flag this as multi-accounting. The new account may then be blocked or held back from identity verification (KYC) until you explain why you deleted the old one.

If you've lost access to your email or 2FA, don't delete your account and start over. Contact Support instead, and we'll help you get back into your current account, for example by changing its email address.

Account recovery

If you've already deleted your account, you can ask to restore it within 14 days of deletion by emailing support@whitebit.com.
