Depositing a cryptocurrency

In order to start trading, you have to top up your account balance. Please note that you can make deposits of both cryptocurrency assets and national currencies on our exchange.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the process of depositing cryptocurrencies using the “Address” method. Let's try to make a deposit of USDT!

How to deposit cryptocurrency in the web version?

To top up your cryptocurrency balance on WhiteBIT, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the “Balances” tab in the upper right corner of the site and select “Total” or “Main”. Click on the “Deposit” button located opposite the ticker of the asset you need (for example, USDT).

 

  1. After that, the cryptocurrency deposit form will be opened. You have to choose one of the available deposit methods. Select the “Address” method.

 

  1. Pick one of the available networks (if necessary). Before doing so, make sure that you have actually selected the correct network and that it is active.

 

Please note that the sender's network (token standard) that you are going to use for deposits must be the same as the network (token standard) on the WhiteBIT exchange.

 

  1. You will receive the address for the top-up. You can copy and paste it yourself on the platform from which you plan to make the transfer, or send it to the person who will top up your balance.

 

Please note that you can send the address or QR code to one of the communication channels. To do this, click on the yellow button “Share address” and select “Copy” or one of the available messengers.

 

The details (amount, date, time, transaction ID, fee, link to the transaction in the explorer) and status of your deposit will be displayed in the “HistoryDeposits” tab located in the upper right corner of the web page.

How to make a cryptocurrency deposit via a mobile app?

In order to top up your balance in the mobile application, you have to do the following instructions:

  1. Go to the “Main” tab and press the yellow “Deposit” button.

 

  1. When you click on this button, you will see a list of currencies available for deposit. You can use the search function to quickly find the asset you need (for example, USDT).

 

  1. Choose the “Address” top-up method and the network (if necessary). Before doing so, make sure that you have selected the correct network and that it is active.

 

Please note that the sender's network (token standard) that you are going to use for deposits must be the same as the network (token standard) on the WhiteBIT exchange.

 

  1. You will see a QR code and the address for the top-up at the bottom of the page. You can press “Copy” and paste this address into the appropriate field on the platform from which you are going to make the transfer, or click the yellow “Share address” button and send it to the person who will make the deposit to your WhiteBIT balance.

 

You can see all deposit details (status, amount, date, time, transaction ID, fee, link to the transaction in the explorer) in the “Wallet”“History” tab.

What should I specify in the “Memo” field when depositing Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM)?

You have to copy the memo (transaction identifier) and paste it into the appropriate field on the sender's platform. Memo is displayed only for some assets in the deposit window after selecting the “Address” deposit method and the network.

 

Where can I find out the network and contract address of the token?

You can see the network of the coin by clicking on the chain symbol next to the asset's ticker on the “Balances”“Total” or “Main” page in the web version and on the ticker/token name in the “Wallet” tab of the mobile app. Clicking on the network will redirect you to the explorer, where information about the token’s contract address will be available.

 

How long does it take for a cryptocurrency deposit to be credited on your exchange?

The speed of the crediting process depends on various factors such as network load, transfer fees, etc. On average, it takes from 30 minutes to several hours for a transaction to be confirmed. The required number of network confirmations for crediting is specified in a separate article.

 

Cryptocurrency deposit is not credited for more than 24 hours. What should I do?

If the deposit is not displayed on your balance after 24 hours, you have to contact our support team. To do this, just create a ticket or contact us using a convenient method specified in the “Support” block.

It is important that you provide this information so that we can process your request quickly:

  • the subject of the request;
  • issue/question;
  • transaction hash/link to the transaction in the explorer.

 

Be careful, your funds may be lost if you enter incorrect information when making a deposit. Please make sure that all information is correct before making a transaction.
